kinda funny how both minelab and now garrett gives us " revolutionary " things that XP have used for years , just in a different form via XY screen . only thing it dosent have is the multiple target ID , but this can be heard via sound if you know what your doing . and the upgrade via buying a software .. not sure what to feel about it tbh

Minelab has had ferrous ID for decades already and did it better than this. Also, no vibrating handle? Even Nokta Score and the cheap Minelab Xterra pro have it. And having to basically pay a ransom just to enable the wireless headphone function is beyond shady and lame.

Do we know how much the new machines weigh (compared to the Max)?

Unfortunately the handle is not in the shape of the letter "S", I think this one is the most suitable for holding and transporting in a bag.

It's a garrett for just garrett users and more expensive versions of apex 😮 uk price £629 without headphones so if you want headphones £179. Too much for a mid range metal detector .and Just remember how many people bought and sold apex within 6 months because machine was so unstable on mf frequency.

Total junk. Do yourself a huuuugggeee favor and look at Xp...Nokta...minelab these machines SMOKE and I mean SMOKE all Garrett machines at better price points. Do your home work. Garrett is the Fisher Price of machines. I wouldn't buy one of these for a kid nevermind and adult

Testing with fresh nails and not turning the iron on during the nail test are both suspicious lol. Fresh store bought nails are NOT the same as old rusty nails. The recovery speed test had the targets pretty far apart......was not really a good recovery speed test at all. I like the multiple ID lines and thankyou for making a screen us older guys can actually read without glasses. I'm still pretty hesitant.........no real tonal options(it matters), no higher settings adjustments like iron bias, noise cancel, bluetooth listed. The frequency range is too compact to really matter for small gold. I mean it's ok but everyone else is offering a wider range which is more helpful. We'll see how she performs in real test gardens I suppose.

Is the vx7 better than AT max

Can you put new rechargeable batteries in it in the field if the batteries go dead or do you have to go home and plug it in and recharge it

For a machine that was overly hyped with “ The Storm Is Coming” teasers for months I was expecting more. It’s basically a re cycled APEX with a new shaft & paint job. Nothing ground breaking at all. I would have expected to see more features and definitely more audio options for the amount of time you’ve spent in R&D. The software is nothing new is it? It’s basically Simultaneous MF with a maximum of 25khz? Come on garrett you’re not even trying here. This machine won’t even make any waves in the market at all, considering you have Minelab, Nokta & XP all offering budget machines with great features. If you’d made the hardware and software great and something different to start with I think you may of been in with a chance, but unfortunately you’ve dropped the ball here big time. You need to go back to the drawing board and come up with an offering that’s really going to turn heads with the wow factor. Not just offer a pretty mediocre at best machine with purchasable software options.

I have one question. I'm planning to purchase the VX7 version, but look at the description, it shows a single frequency setting of 5khz-13khz. If I use multi-frequency, will it only be used as a multi-frequency within that frequency radius? Or, is it used up to 25khz? 😎

IVE OWNED 4 garret MACHINES THEN BOUGHT A NOX 800. NOX 800 is hands down a better machine. THE NOX HAS MF SO THIS " NEW TECHNOLOGY" THEY CLAIM ISNT NEW AT ALL. JUST SAVE UP A LIL MORE MONEY AND BE PATIENT PPL. BUY YOURSELF A MINELAB. WHY NOT JUST RELEASE 1 machine with all the upgrades. THUS SADDENS ME

That nail test may have been impressive 5 or 10 years ago but things have moved on. Do the same test with rusty colonial nails and set them at different heights. As you know very well, rusty nails have a different signature profile to nice new Home Depot nails.

Thanks for the demo. Of course, most nails will be rusty and in the ground.

No iron filter? 5 tones only? Does not come with wireless headphones? I was really hoping that an American company would come out with something to destroy the competition! However, this multi dimension is not where I want to be😂

I honestly expected something far superior than what we were presented with. This is clearly a hybrid of existing hardware and a spin on existing technology with an attempt to package it as an all new superior offering. Sadly, the more time I’ve had to digest what was presented and the amount of time leading up to the debut of this new machine, the more I am disappointed. if this is the best that Garrett can do, the future is dim for the brand.

With 40 years of detecting, I had such high hopes for a state of the art machine from Garret. There are so many features missing and behind the curve with the big 3 . Maybe time will tell.

Well that’s way the heck out of my price range
